The 1988 Purefoods Hotdogs season was the 1st season of the franchise in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).
Key dates
- March 22: Registered the team's first official win, a 119-107 victory over Shell Helix, after an opening day blowout loss to San Miguel Beer.
- May 22: Reach the PBA Open finals with a 111-109 overtime win over arch rival Ginebra San Miguel.
- June 26: Defeated San Miguel Beer, 121-110 in the main game of the PBA All-Filipino Conference Opener.
- July 3: In his second game as a pro, Alvin Patrimonio led Purefoods to a 110-106 win over Shell, as he tasted his first victory in the PBA.
- August 11: Ramon Fernandez scored a conference-high 47 points in leading the Hotdogs to a 132-125 win over San Miguel Beer at the start of the All-Filipino Conference semifinals.

- Amateur standout Alvin Patrimonio finally debut in the PBA on June 30.
- Six games into the All-Filipino, Playing coach Ramon Fernandez gave up his coaching chores to assistant Cris Calilan, Fernandez led the Hotdogs to a 3-3 card after the first round of eliminations.
